When we walk on the road

'When we walk on the road'

We won't hear the cry on the lanes
Nor will we see the helpless one
When we walk on the road
He looks at you
Stretching his hands towards you
For a piece of bread
Or bowl of soup
But we don't care, we ignore him
He has no home nor has he got any one
dear
He's crippled, he's sick
He has starved for days
Unheeded his cries go
We walk away to our own worlds
He's fed up with life
For no one feeds him
And numb less he sits
Stretching out his hands for aid
We preach great things to him
The things to be practiced
But we don't practice what we preach
We see him on the road
We don't look at him
Some look with sympathy
Some with hatred
Some chase him away
Some pray for him
But a few show empathy and love
They help him. …..
